Brief bio

Stuart Allan is Professor of Journalism and Communication at Cardiff University, UK. He has published widely on a range of topics, including the emergence and development of news on the internet, the online reporting of war, conflict and crisis, science journalism (special interest in nanotechnology), photojournalism and citizen journalism. He is currently conducting a research study examining the use of digital imagery in the reporting of breaking news events. His most recent book, Citizen Witnessing: Revisioning Journalism in Times of Crisis, was published by Polity Press in January, 2013.
